Information on the Commercial Buildings Sector

Every four years, the U.S. DOE completes an exhaustive data-collection exercise known as the Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey. It reveals a dizzying array of data, from building size -- each measures at least 1,000 square feet --- location, and occupancy to the buildings' energy sources, consumption, and expenditures. If you tire of looking at tables of these data, browse reports on a variety of topics both broad (current trends in commercial building) and narrow (computer and photocopier use). The "Public Use Data" section features PDF downloads of individual responses to survey questions.
